Do you know what a mentor really is?
In the years I worked, I can’t say I really ever had a mentor. I may have had bosses and fellow workers, but I can’t say I ever thought of any of them as a mentor. Except maybe growing up, my sister-in-law was like a mentor teaching me how to work.
But after that and beginning my own career, I did not really have a mentor. It seems I really never heard a lot about it until the last few years. Maybe it’s just something that’s being talked about more and more.
On dictionary.com mentor means “a wise and trusted counselor or teacher, an influential senior sponsor or supporter.”
I have come to realize today after mowing grass and listening to a podcast, we should all have a mentor no matter what phase of life we are in or how old we are. Having a mentor can be someone we talk to about influential things in our life. A mentor can also be someone who we trust to help us with life decisions.
During the podcast, I had several people that came to mind. I have two close friends that help me do life and help me make decisions. I can turn to them when I’m sad or mad, happy or confused, any emotions they can help.
But there seems to be one person who I’ve really looked up to as a trusted counselor. I’ve had the opportunity to have her as my leader in a volunteer organization, I’ve had her as a friend, I’ve had her as a coach, I’ve had her as someone I would believe in and someone I love to learn from.
She has taught me so many things about myself. She has helped me grow so much as a leader. She has also taught me not to try and go at things alone. She has taught me I can do what God leads me to do if I just have faith and believe.
I know I don’t have many followers or people who read my blog posts, but for the people that do I would love to introduce you to a wonderful mentor.
This is not a sales pitch or some way to expand someone’s business. This is me sharing about a wonderful lady who has used the gifts God gave her to further His Kingdom by being a wonderful mentor to others.
Please follow her on social media or sign up for her emails. I promise you will not be disappointed. You may even gain you a friend and mentor you never thought you would have.
